The Road to Hana

Yesterday we went on the road to Hana. It wasn’t about the destination, it was about the journey. That was one of the Hawaiians’ favorite sayings.
the first stop we made was at a fruit stand. First we looked at some water falls then we had a coconut drink.
then we went back in the car and drove for a bit. Then we stopped  to swim at a different waterfall. It was so cold!!! The video below is of me swimming at the waterfall.
When we were still at the waterfall we had to climb a rock wall.
along the road there was lots of beautiful views.
we stopped in Hana to eat Thai food for lunch. I had salad and chicken with bamboo in it. Yum!
Next we went for a long hike in Haleakala National Park to see  the seven sacred pools. Along the way we saw some waterfalls.
on the hike we saw the big banyan tree. We climbed on it.
we saw a mongoose or two along the way … There are mongooses in Hawaii because people brought them to kill the rats but it sort of got out of hand. The mongoose hunt in the daytime and the rats come out at night. They did not really think that one through so it didn’t work out at all.

Then our trail went through the bamboo forest. The bamboo was very musical. It made a drum sound.
at the end there was a huge water fall and we had to cross a stream to get to it.

After the hike  there was a really windy road. It was so bumpy and narrow I thought we were going to fall of the cliff.

On the way home me and Liam fell asleep in the car. It was a long fun day. Ma halo! (that means thank you in Hawaiian).
